You're correct in that... Everyone is trying to cover up for some inferiority. I think it's strongly based in culture - the lack of things or the bountifulness of them - leads one to compensate for what they didn't have coming up.

Basically, you are saying: black men are like white women and black women are like white men.

Black men tend to pick a mate who is “beneath” them, to protect their low self-esteems. The woman perfect for a black man is one who can’t believe her luck that such a wonderful man chose her. She’ll never stray (yeah) because she’s waaayyy out of her league.

White men tend to pick mates above them - to protect their low self-esteem. White men like a woman with lots of whatever, so he can hide within her shadow while reaping the benefits of her lot in life.

When we turn from the light we tend to lose ourselves in darkness and sometimes can't find the light we once had. This piece is a great reminder that "there is no victory to be had standing toe-to-toe with the demon queen/king."

I like A League of Their Own, it's a great watch. It's something about those ladies. I loved the personalities of the characters, they were all so real and it's great to see many actresses/actors so fresh, at the start of their careers!
Kindergarten may be the slow uphill journey towards the end... I think first grade may be the official beginning of the end.

Are you incapable of putting together a Ikea bookcase?
Tarot cards? I'm thinking you should continue doing what you're doing without the tarot cards... They sound like fortune cookie inserts.

Basically, the Cavs possess the mentality of much of Cleveland, find someone who's extremely determined and skilled; discretely catch a ride alongside; if they fail tell them how disappointed you are that they were unable to carry the unimaginable weight of the world by themselves. At least there's consistency.

I actually feel sorry for this character, but at the same time admire her. It's always kind of amazing how your words have such a deep essence of reality to them. I will say that this character reminds me of Rae in the movie: Black Snake Moan... did you write this after watching that?

Okay, so after reading the first one, I'm going to state it: I'm hooked to the Jered and Julia series. I'm about to sit here and read the whole thing and hopefully not get upset when i get to the last entry.

This is a beautiful piece. I feel like it defines art, the ability to read, view experience the same thing and walk away with hundreds of meanings...
It is at times difficult to view ourselves from the other side, simply because it can be "a little overwhelming." Still, to view ourselves from the other side can be one of the most evolving experiences, only when we make the hard decision to "no longer crawl...but that I would fly."
